Fever Dreams

Solo ShowIsabel Croxatto Gallery, Chile13 Jan – 13 Feb 2026

Isabel Croxatto Galería is pleased to present Fever Dreams, a solo exhibition by Chilean artist Nelson Hernández. The exhibition will be on view from January 14 to February 14, 2026, at the gallery’s Local 2 space.

Fever Dreams brings together a new body of work that explores states of visual instability and perceptual tension, where disparate images, objects, and references collide within dreamlike, meticulously constructed scenes. Drawing from photographic language and digital processes, Hernández creates paintings that evoke simultaneity, fragmentation, and the blurred boundaries between the familiar and the uncanny.

Through these works, the artist reflects on the condition of a globalized, postmodern world—one in which stimuli coexist with equal intensity, regardless of origin—revealing ongoing tensions between the local and the universal, the revered and the banal.

——

This series of paintings is constructed from the visual language of photography, yet within them space, scale, and origin collide in improbable scenes that nevertheless retain a strange internal coherence.

Toys, sculptures, objects, and figures come together to form an impossible stage set, where blurred edges and defocus prevent a clear reading of what is taking place. What appears fortuitous is in fact the result of meticulous construction: three-dimensional models created on the computer through photogrammetry processes. Sculptures from London museums, urban corners, and found objects are digitized and layered, giving shape to the fragmentary tapestry of an experience that unfolds in a non-linear manner.

Like a complex, disordered, and diffuse dream, the scenes follow one another in an attempt to capture the simultaneity of a globalized, postmodern world, where every stimulus coexists at the same time and with equal intensity, regardless of its origin—revealing the tension between the local and the universal, the familiar and the foreign, the revered and the banal.
