The most important thing for me is that this painting works as an exercise on several levels:
(First) I wanted to remake a painting that always caught my attention, “The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne”. Mainly because of the position of the characters in the composition and the way in which Saint Anne and The Virgin seem to share their body and limbs, forming a strange Siamese with three hands and three legs.
(Second) I wanted to do it using several toys as a structure (in this case: the heads of Meowth (also a Siamese) and Mario, the body of Tiger, Bart and Agumon) that I digitized using photogrammetry, to reconstruct the pose, as if It was a sculpture…
And (third) in the process I wanted to hide the origin of the characters, see what would happen if I changed their skins and took them away from their original versions and only kept their forms.
